My Story
Maurice “Mo” Johnson
I was born and raised in Chicago, IL., in a large family of 14 children. I’m the fourth (4th) child of 13 siblings, with 8 brothers and 5 sisters. We experienced hard times and sometimes it was just a blessing to have a good meal. We could not afford Air Jordans, adidas, or name brand clothing. But I thank God for my mom and Dad who raised us the best way that they could.
I remember not being able to buy a simple T-shirt. So being a diehard “Bulls” fan, I hand drew a picture of my favorite basketball player on the back of an old T-shirt and Rocked it. You couldn’t tell me nothing I was dripping! Lol!
However, my dad knew that living on public assistance wasn’t enough to make ends meet so, he started a side hustle as a mechanic at an auto shop. As teenagers, my brothers and I would help my dad after school, so we knew the meaning of demanding work and a good work ethic at an early age. So, when I became an adult, I took that hard-work mentality and turn it into a career, in construction.
Now, starting a new passion in my life by creating T-shirts, apparel, and more that provides uplifting quotes and trends to highlight the true culture of Chicago. And that is why I chose my new brand “606 Trends.”
